Dear Traveling Friends,

SOUTH AFRICA & THE ROYAL KINGDOM OF SWAZILAND | September 2017 |
Just nine weeks to go before a group of us depart for South Africa & Swaziland! Can’t wait!

THE ISLAND OF SRI LANKA |15 days |1-15 February 2018 |
Also on the horizon is Sri Lanka… this trip is a ‘go’ and there are still some places available! This is a one-off so if you are drawn to discover this unique island nation situated southeast of India in the Indian Ocean, do come join us! The people are warm and welcoming! We’ll visit artisans and communities at work in their homes and villages… lowland jungles and the misty heights of the Hill Country. Come and experience this beautiful emerald island!

A couple of you are continuing on to the exotic MALDIVES with its coral atolls and islands, so if you are interested in extended your stay in the Indian sub-continent please let us know about any help and arrangements you may need.

One of our group has visited Sri Lanka before and loved the experience so much that she’s returning with a friend. As she says: “We are both thrilled that we are joining you for Sri Lanka. What a gem of an island and country. And best of all, how wonderful to have you sharing with us the beauty of the people and handcrafts.”

So if you have an adventurous spirit, enjoy meeting people and take pleasure in photography, architecture and landscape, villages and markets, come join us in the life-changing magical experience of travel!

These are more than just tours, they are journeys of discovery both creatively and personally. Life-long friendships are often formed. And that goes for me too! I am so lucky to travel with many wonderful people who have become close friends near and far.

I recently shared with a few of you that I was considering stopping tours next year… after all it is now more than 30 years since I did my first Himalayan Weaving Workshop at my home above McLeod Ganj (Dharamsala), home to The Dalai Lama and the Tibetan Government-in-Exile. Several of you commented that I had never organized a trip through the very area where I spent 20 years and that you wanted to go! I have to admit I found myself musing on the idea and feeling rather enthusiastic! So I agree, it’s not quite time to stop these adventures! And yes, I will be offering an overland journey through the Western Himalayas…

THE WESTERN HIMALAYAS – March/April 2019
We’ll travel through the state of Himachal Pradesh, starting in the old British hill station of Shimla and on to McLeod Ganj known as Little Tibet. We’ll visit Tibetan monasteries, explore Tibetan culture, their arts & crafts, meeting Pahari hill weavers and potters. We’ll stay in a fabulous village setting at a Heritage Himalayan Homestay, explore an Artists Colony with far-reaching views across snow-capped mountain peaks, we’ll meander through bustling bazaars and on to Amritsar, the spiritual and cultural home for Sikhs and the stunning Golden Temple. From Delhi we’ll head to Rishikesh situated where the Holy River Ganges flows through mountains, with its temples, ashrams and wandering holy men. This itinerary will be posted on the website in April 2018. In the meantime, please register your interest so that an early copy can be emailed to you.

I have a question to ask you! Several of you have expressed the wish to visit MYANMAR (BURMA) as well as UZBEKISTAN. My intention is to choose one of these destinations probably for October 2018. Please let me know your interest, so that I can make an informed choice between these two stunning regions.

RETURN TO MYANMAR (BURMA) | proposed for October 2018
from temples & golden pagodas to ethnic minorities of Shan Plateau
UZBEKISTAN | proposed for October 2018
Central Asia and the Golden Road to Samarkand

I look forward as always to fabulous adventures in good company!

Lesley
