Lesley is thrilled to once again offer her homeland South Africa and The Royal Kingdom of Swaziland as a destination.
We’ll first make our way from Johannesburg to a private Game Reserve, part of the renowned Kruger National Park and home to the “Big Five”… elephant, rhino, buffalo, lion and the elusive leopard. From our fabulous safari lodge we’ll go on game drives in open vehicles accompanied by expert rangers and trackers, giving us optimum opportunity to view the magnificent wildlife.
Then up into the highlands of Swaziland to visit a truly inspirational organization involving communities of local women who create unique products from grass, beads and pottery using natural and indigenous dyes… we’ll also enjoy the flamboyant Manzini weekly market.
On to Durban! It’s the oldest port in Africa and the capital of Zululand (kwaZulu-Natal). Then a short flight to Cape Town to explore the breath-taking scenery of the Cape Peninsula. Our visits include a cable car to the top of iconic Table Mountain, Bo-Kaap and the Malay Quarter with its brightly painted 19th century houses, the beautiful Winelands and historic villages of Stellenbosch, Paarl and Franschhoek.
Our accommodation has been specially chosen to reflect the character of our surroundings, sometimes traditional, sometimes luxurious and often in idyllic nature settings… ‘Out-of-Africa’ style.
Throughout we’ll explore Southern African crafts, folk and tribal art, visit museums and markets, as well as inspiring community projects focusing on a variety of crafts from embroidery and basketry to weaving and natural dyes. Come and discover the vibrant spirit of South Africa and Swaziland on this once in a lifetime journey…with superb photographic opportunities!
