Dear All

It’s been great to have heard from several of you about travels plans for 2019/2020. So now, as 2018 ends and the colder winter months set in, time to think about UZBEKISTAN – October 2019… SRI LANKA – February 2020… and INDIA: ACROSS THE WESTERN HIMALAYAS – March 2020.

Here are summaries of these three fabulous tours…

9-23 February, 2020 | 15 days |
As requested by those who could not join the previous trip, I’m delighted to once again offer Sri Lanka as a destination. Come discover this tiny island nation in the Indian Ocean situated southeast of India. The people are truly friendly, warm and welcoming! We’ll be staying in some fabulous lodges and explore a myriad of stunning destinations, meeting artisans at work in their homes and villages. From lowland jungles to the misty heights of the Hill Country, experience this truly beautiful, one of a kind, emerald island!

You can additionally extend your travels with a visit to the exotic MALDIVES with its coral atolls and islands, just a plane-hop away. From all accounts those who did so, absolutely loved it!

early March, 2020 | 18 Days |
After a successful tour this past October, I am delighted to say that next year’s Spring Departure is a full complement (maximum group size is 14 persons). As there is still interest being expressed in this trip, I’m putting out a Departure for March 2020. Please email your interest and I’ll get an early copy of the itinerary to you in the New Year.

From mountains and hill stations to extraordinary vistas of far-reaching Himalayan peaks, rural villages situated off the beaten track where traditional life is timeless alongside the bustle of local bazars; an in-depth experience of Tibetans and their Buddhist culture, flamboyant temples, monasteries and nunneries, as well as age-old crafts that combine ancient skills with 21st century passion. A fabulous adventure awaits you!

13-29 October, 2019 | 17 Days |
There is just 1 space available on the October 2019 Tour to Uzbekistan. It has been really fabulous to see a great deal of interest with three travelers repeating this tour, so if you’re drawn to this trip, now’s the moment to let me know.

We’ll journey along the legendary Silk Road to the ancient cities of Khiva, Bukhara and Samarkand, rich in the history of great travelers and bygone caravansarais and some of the Islamic world’s most inspiring architecture. We’ll wander through Central Asian bazars, meet master artisans in their homes and workshops, enjoying traditional home-cooked village meals and being invited inside to share something of their lives and work. And it goes without saying that the photographic opportunities are really rewarding!

RETURNING TRAVELERS (from the UK & the US) joining our Spring 2019 Himalayan Tour: Deborah Sanders and Christine Brown, Naomi Grishman and Ellen Golden, Sheila Nunnerley and Jill Gray, Diane and Ron Rigo, Molly Eckman, Emma Hutchens, Melanie Grishman and Katherine Green… A Very Big Welcome Back!

Until then I wish you all very warm Festive Greetings and may the New Year bring Peace to our world!
