Dear Travelers

2020 Tour Updates… the year begins in SRI LANKA and culminates with two fabulous INDIA trips!

LOST TREASURES OF WEST BENGAL & NORTHEAST INDIA… the new tour!
18 DAYS | 12-29 OCTOBER, 2020 departure… SPACES AVAILABLE!

An inspirational journey to discover the textiles, temples & palaces of West Bengal, tribal traditions of Assam & the high, misty landscapes of Meghalaya

The new tour is to the far corners of Northeast India, that magical, secret area bordering Tibet, Bhutan, Myanmar and Bangladesh. It is in these parts that the tribal communities and local life, the culture, arts and crafts, are still at their most traditional.

We’ll be exploring undiscovered West Bengal, vibrant with an extraordinary, age-old yet sophisticated textile legacy dating back centuries, with weaving villages and spectacular architectural wonders redolent of this great past. We’ll spend several nights in the romantic 300 year old palatial Bari Kothi overlooking the flowing waters of ‘Mother Ganga, the holiest river in India. The most perfect base from which to explore this little-visited area!

Then on to mountainous Meghalaya and Assam in the remote Northeast to discover first-hand the culture of the Mishing, Garo and Khasi tribals and learn about their weaving, natural silk reeling and dyeing traditions. Reaching Kaziranga National Park, famous for its magnificent one-horned Rhino we’ll enjoy jeep safaris and ride on elephant back. We’ll visit the extraordinary Majuli island in the middle of the Brahmaputra River, with its unique treasures of handcrafts, pottery and mask making… a fast disappearing world. Every step of the way there will be fantastic photographic opportunities.

These are more than just tours, they are journeys of discovery both creatively and personally. Life-long friendships are often formed. So if you have an adventurous spirit, enjoy meeting people and take pleasure in photography, architecture and landscape, villages and markets, come join us!

I’m really excited and inspired by this trip. I have been privileged to share some amazing journeys with you and this will be one of them!
